Founder of By the Book Baseball

For Ty Book, baseball isn’t just a career—it’s a lifelong calling. A fixture of the Lancaster, PA baseball scene since he first stepped onto a diamond at five years old, Ty has spent nearly 40 years immersed in the game. From his early days as a youth player to his current role as a leader in the coaching community, his journey has been defined by a deep-rooted passion for the sport and the local community.

A Legacy of Excellence

 

Ty’s coaching resume speaks for itself. Since 2005, he has been a driving force in Lancaster County baseball, most notably during his tenure at Lancaster Catholic High School. Under his leadership, the program reached historic heights, and he continues to contribute to championship-caliber teams today.

His championship pedigree includes:

-6 Section Titles

-3 District Championships (Including the 2025 title as Pitching Coach)

-1 Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship

-1 PIAA State Championship

His impact extends far beyond the win-loss column. Ty has mentored numerous Division I prospects and countless college athletes, helping them refine their mechanics and mental approach to reach the next level.

 

Deep Roots & Community Impact

A graduate of Manheim Township High School, Ty continued his playing career at Cecil College and spent many years competing in and coaching for the Quad County Optimist League. This extensive background as both a player and a coach allows him to connect with athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Today, Ty shares his expertise with a global audience through the By the Book Baseball Instagram page, where he has built a community of over 13,000 followers dedicated to elite training and development.

 

Beyond the Diamond

While baseball is Ty’s life’s work, his family is his foundation. Baseball is a "family thing" for the Books; Ty is supported by his wife, Emily, and their two children, Simon and Lucy. When he isn't at the facility or on the high school bench, you can likely find him on the golf course or enjoying time with his family.
